Hello there!
My name is Frank Yip, and I teach Pre-DP and DP Mathematics. A little bit about myself - I was born in Hong Kong, studied Engineering in university and worked as a researcher in the United States, and taught Mathematics in an international school in Singapore for years before coming to Japan.
Before becoming a teacher, I saw how Mathematics played a central role in science and technology, and as a teacher, I feel privileged to tell my students all about it! Mathematics is more than just problem sets and tests - it is about how nature works and how humans create incredible tools to solve problems. So I can talk for hours when students ask me why we study Mathematics!
As a global citizen, I have lived and travelled in many parts of the world, and I am thrilled to interact with students from different countries. I want to hear their stories, and I have tales to tell them too.

Dear students,
My name is Emil Hanssen, and I will be teaching G10 Social Studies, DP Psychology, and TOK at Teikyo! I was born and raised in Sweden and have been living and working in Japan since 2014. I have been working in the IB ever since, in both the PYP, MYP and the DP. I enjoy teaching the IB, which I think is very similar to the Scandinavian education system. Students learn by inquiring, experimenting, and learning with the teacher as support rather than the traditional lecture approach. I am currently working towards a Ph.D. in Philosophy/History/Psychology, and I hope to bring a lot of ideas and experience into the classroom to make your time here engaging, enjoyable, and meaningful.
I practice Muay Thai and go mountain biking as often as I can. I love sailing when I can get my hands on a boat. I also like board games, and I look forward to setting up a board game club at Teikyo. My spirit animal is a fluffy unicorn, and my guilty pleasure is blueberry cheesecake ice cream.
Nice to meet you everyone and vi ses snart ("see you soon" in Swedish)!

Greetings everyone,
My name is Adam Holland, and I will be teaching Language and Literature and English for Academic Purposes at Teikyo Kani. I'm originally from Arizona in the US, where I studied Creative Writing and English Literature. After graduating, I moved to South Korea, where I discovered a passion for teaching, and since then, I have gone on to work with students of all ages at academies, high schools, and universities all over the world.
In my free time, I enjoy baking unique pizzas, watching movies, cycling, playing games with friends, and kickboxing (among many other things!). I don't have any pets right now, but I love both cats and dogs and get very excited when I see them.
I have been living and teaching in Japan for the last four years, and I am very excited to be working at a great high school like Teikyo. We will be reading (and watching!) a wide range of fun literature, poetry, short stories, and film in class, but more than anything, I am excited to hear your stories. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Hello everyone!
My name is Mbote Cyrille Lenya, and I'm thrilled to be your teacher. I've always been passionate about business and education, and I'm excited to share my knowledge with you.
I will be teaching Business Management (HL and SL) at the Diploma Level and Mathematics, Civics and Geography at the Pre-Diploma level.
I grew up and studied in Cameroon. I hold a Master's and two Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Buea, specializing in Business Education with major in Accounting. I've always enjoyed tutoring and teaching, even while I was a student myself, no doubt I’m a teacher today!
In my classroom, I believe in making learning practical. We'll be exploring real-world business scenarios and using simulations to make the concepts reflect what businesses do in real life! I'm a big believer in realism, and I want to work with you so that we can easily connect what we learn in class to the world around us.
When I'm not teaching, I love to cook and listen to music. To get to know you all better, I'd love to hear what you enjoy doing in your free time!
Let's have a fantastic learning experience together!

My approach to teaching focuses on helping my students grow, guiding their career
choices, and giving them the support they need to succeed. I believe a classroom should
be a place where students feel encouraged to do well both in their studies and in their
personal lives.
By creating a sense of belonging and support, I aim to spark student's interest in learning and inspire them to reach their full potential in understanding Chemistry. I also believe that students learn best when they are engaged, challenged at the right level, and given the support they need to succeed.
In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym, learning new skills, and connecting with nature to relax. At the same time, I also enjoy activities that give me a rush of adrenaline. Balancing these interests helps me stay calm and centered, allowing me to bring my best in everything I do.

I am cheerful and approachable, and I enjoy and am good at interacting with children. I strive to be a warm and caring tutor, sincerely listening to and feeling their joys and sorrows, providing appropriate psychological guidance to help them approach life and learning with a positive and sunny attitude. Like a mother, I nurture every student who needs help with love.
I believe that the purpose of education is not the accumulation of knowledge, but to learn how to think, make choices, have convictions, and experience freedom.

Hello, my name is Oben Frankee from Cameroon, and I am honored to be part of the teaching
team at Teikyo University Kani High School. I served as an IB Diploma Program Physics
Teacher at Enko Education Cameroon and worked for School is easy tutoring Briefly in Dubai.
Added to my IB Physics examiner experience I bring with me a strong passion for inspiring
curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning in every student I teach. I have had
the privilege of working in international education for several years, supporting students
from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds. My teaching philosophy focuses on inquiry-based
learning, helping students build a deep understanding of scientific concepts through experimentation,
reflection, and real-world applications.
Beyond the classroom, I am founder of Youths alliance for emergence in Cameroon an association of young volunteers. I enjoy collaborating with colleagues to develop engaging curricula and supporting students as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of the IB Diploma Program. I believe that education is most powerful when it empowers students to ask meaningful questions, think independently, and apply their knowledge to make a positive impact.

Hello! My name is Leena, and I teach DP Biology, Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and Pre-DP Biology.
I am originally from India, where I completed my undergraduate degree, master’s degree, and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.). Teaching is my passion, and I feel grateful to have built a career that allows me to share my love for learning and discovery with students every day.
Throughout my teaching journey, I have worked in several countries and taught a variety of international curricula. My experience spans the Maldives (A Level and GCSE Biology), Indonesia (A Level Biology, DP Biology, and IGCSE), Singapore (IBDP Biology and Environmental Systems and Societies), Bangladesh (DP Biology, ESS, and MYP Biology), Myanmar, and Costa Rica (AP Biology, Environmental Science, and US Common Core).
Having lived and taught in diverse cultural and educational settings, I strongly believe in the value of a global perspective in education.
As a teacher, my role is to guide, encourage, and challenge students to think deeply, ask meaningful questions, and connect what they learn to the real world. My goal is to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every student feels supported, inspired, and empowered to reach their fullest potential—both inside and outside the classroom.
I believe that learning is a lifelong journey of curiosity, growth, and connection, and I strive to help my students discover the joy and purpose that come with it.
